Adams-Gabbert & Associates, Inc.
Lee’s Summit, MO/21 employees
Owner: Jo Anne Gabbert

“A strong business practice, solid ethics, believing in relationships and the knowledge that the client always comes first are keys to success.”—Jo Anne Gabbert

Although generating a profit obviously is necessary, Jo Anne Gabbert has seen first-hand the negative effects of businesses that chose profitability over the welfare of their employees and clients. She knew there had to be a better way, so she started her own company. She has based her business on four essential values: balance, commitment, professionalism and quality.

“I was willing and determined to establish an innovative work-life balance policy and a benefits structure that would reward associates,” Gabbert said.

Working 40-45 hours a week is standard, but the company allows employees to work flexible hours when the need arises. They can work a shortened week with 10-hour days, take summers off to be with children, attend family and school functions and bring children to the office if necessary.

“They can put family first without negative repercussions in the workplace,” Gabbert said.

Adams-Gabbert advises its clients of the work-life balance policy and will refuse jobs that don’t allow the employees that balance. So far, this has worked out well both for the clients and the associates. The employees are happy and don’t suffer burnout, and the clients receive top-notch results.

Founded in 1999, Adams-Gabbert provides professional consulting services in industries such as telecommunications, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, transportation and logistics and banking and finance.

“We have been recognized for our ability to partner with our clients, taking a personal stake in the outcome of each project,” Gabbert said.

Community service is a core mission at Adams-Gabbert. The company sponsors days off to sort food for Harvesters and to take inner city children to Science City via its sponsorship in Operation Breakthrough. The company also participates in the March of Dimes Walk, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, United Way Day of Caring, Hope House, Bikes and Trykes for Tykes and Juvenile Diabetes Walks. The company also sponsors golf tournaments and girls softball and soccer teams in the Lee’s Summit area.

“Balance in the workplace is the catalyst for achieving all our goals and objectives, and I am proud that it is the word at my company.”
